REVIEW: Violent, Profane "Deadpool" Shouldn't Work, But Really F---ing Does
Frank Darabont has turned to a familiar name to join the sprawling cast of AMC’s The Walking Dead: Jeffrey DeMunn, who’s appeared in no fewer than four of Darabont’s films, including The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption.
“I’ve always said Jeff DeMunn is my good luck charm, and I can’t make a film without him,” the director tells FEARNet. “We’ve just gotten him on board as one of the ensemble members, which is a great joy for me. One of the great pleasures of doing anything is to be able to reconvene with those colleagues who have the talent and provide you with the comfort zone of great collaborative, positive energy.”
Darabont didn’t say which character DeMunn will portray, but the website suggests he might play Dale, the widowed RV owner who joins up with sisters Amy and Andrea on their way to Atlanta. That seems like a solid guess.
DeMunn joins Andrew Lincoln (Love, Actually) and Jon Bernthal (The Ghost Writer) in the adaptation of the long-running Image Comics series created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. Debuting in 2003, The Walking Dead follows a group of people struggling to survive in the wake of an epidemic that’s left the world overrun by zombies.
AMC has made a six-episode commitment to the series, which is set to air in October as part of the cable channel’s annual Fearfest horror marathon.
