Kristen Bell Keeps Fighting For The Unlikely Veronica Mars Movie

Once upon a time, Veronica Mars was very high on my list of things to catch up on. But so much time has passed since the series left the airwaves that I no longer feel the urge to devour those DVD sets, certainly not when I still have to start watching Breaking Bad. (I know, I know.)

Still, Mars has its fans, many of whom are hoping to see the series live on through a cinematic adaptation — an adaptation that’s unlikely to come to fruition anytime soon, as Kristen Bell recently told E! Online that Warner Bros. is skeptical of the potential film’s prospects.

“I wish I had news,” she said. “Still in the process of campaigning to tell Warner Bros. that people would actually see it. I think that as long as you guys keep asking those questions and I keep answering them, Warner Bros. will one day get the picture that everybody does want it and that it will make its money back. I think, truthfully, they’re a company and they want to know that they’ll make their return back. We just have to convince them that they will.”

Honestly, I understand where Warner Bros. is coming from. Veronica Mars isn’t exactly the freshest corpse in the television graveyard and Bell herself isn’t a box office knockout, so there’s no guaranteeing that a Mars movie makes any kind of financial success for the WB. While it certainly seems that Bell is trying her best, I almost think she would be doing fans a greater service by shoveling that last bit of dirt on the coffin, moving on and letting Veronica rest in peace.

What do you guys think? Are you still holding out hope for a Veronica Mars movie or has too much time passed?

You haven’t watched the series? Get a clue. There are questions that need answers.

I’m happy to see that Kristen Bell is still interested in doing a Veronica Mars movie. I loved that show and was sad to see it go. If they can get her and the original creators behind the project, solid script, cast a good character actor or 2 to co-star(like John Malkovich, Tom Wilkinson, Chloe Sevigny, etc.) and keep a low budget I think it could be successful!

No studios in their right mind would ever give the VM movie green light. A TV or straight-to-dvd movie is the obvious answer, but Rob Thomas and K-Bell would never agree to it (not enough money in it for them). The only reason why the two keeps on talking about the movie, rather than burying it whenever they’re asked, is that they want to stay relevant and in the limelight. It’s pathetic how Kristen Bell keeps bringing it up whenever she has sometime to promote. Oh and pleading on twitter that if When in Rome does well in the box office, VM movie is going to be made is nothing short of pathetic.

Matt, did she really do that with WIR? Laugh Out Loud if true.

Hey, Matt, I take it your not a fan of Veronica Mars…heh..why do you have such a strong opinion against Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas?
I’m not a Lost fan, but if they decided to do a Lost movie it wouldn’t bother me.
The fact of the matter is Kristen Bell is a great actress who hasn’t been in many good movies, but Veronica Mars is a great role for her and I don’t see anything wrong with her holding out hope for a movie spinoff.
Twitter is for fans of fill in the blank, so the fact that you’re up to date on Kristen Bell’s twitter posts must mean that you’re a closeted Kristen Bell fan or some sort of stalker…?

I think he's a fan but doesn't like the stars dangling nostalgia in his face in order to make him pay for stuff he doesn't want to see.
