Alden Ehrenreich Cast as the Young Han Solo for the 2018 "Star Wars" Anthology Film
Fans aren’t the only ones losing a cherished piece of popular culture once Lost takes its final bow — it’s a major blow for ABC as well, as the television network has spent several years developing new programs to take Lost’s place.
To date, few if any of these shows have managed to latch onto mainstream culture with the same ferocity as the island-based drama, with the latest would-be successors coming in the form of V and FlashForward. Both science fiction shows have struggled in the ratings despite strong starts, and for many months, it was assumed that neither series would survive to see a second season. As it turns out, those predictions were only partially accurate.
Entertainment Weekly reports that ABC has decided to push ahead with more V, granting the alien invasion series a 13-episode second season. FlashForward was not so lucky, however, as the Joseph Fiennes-starring show has blacked out once and for all. Joining FlashForward in the ABC graveyard are Romantically Challenged, Better Off Ted and the revamped Scrubs.
With another season ordered, do you think it’s possible that V can ever match Lost in terms of critical and commercial success, or at least come close? Or do you think that ABC is simply postponing another inevitable cancellation?
