GIANT-SIZE X-POSITION: Duggan Goes Rogue in "Uncanny Avengers" & "Deadpool"
THR, Esq. reports that Marc Toberoff has filed a copyright-infringement lawsuit against author Rick Riordan, 20th Century Fox and Disney on behalf of two writers who claim the Percy Jackson series of young-adult novels and the film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief steal extensively from two of their books.
Toberoff also represents the heirs of Jack Kirby in their lawsuit against Marvel and Disney.
Robyn and Tony DiTocco, authors of 2002’s The Hero Perseus: A Mad Myth Mystery and 2004’s Atlas’ Revenge: Another Mad Math Mystery, claim that Riordan copied several key characters and scenes for his five books, published from 2005 to 2009 by Disney’s Hyperion Books division. Their lawsuit alleges at least 100 similarities, from the names of the protagonists to the central threats to the quests.
Fox’s Percy Jackson movie, released in January, grossed $220 million worldwide.
