SPIDER-MANDATE: The Lowe-down on "Secret Wars," Tie-Ins and Stacey Lee
Believe it or not, but Marlo Stanfield is doing something good for the world.
Jamie Hector, the actor who played the aforementioned ruthless crime lord on HBO’s The Wire, is the founder of Moving Mountains Inc., a non-profit organization designed to help cultivate the talents of New York City’s youth in a safe and encouraging environment. This coming weekend, Hector is organizing an event that will benefit the organization in a pretty awesome way: a charity paintball tournament featuring the cast of The Wire.
It’s called “The Streets Vs. The Law Paintball Tournament 2010,” taking place this Saturday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Long Island City, New York. The tournament will include Wire actors such as Michael K. Williams (Omar), Sonia Sohn (Kima), Anwan Glover (Slim Charles) and Snoop Pearson (Snoop). Anyone can sign up, though space is limited and very expensive: it’s $750 per team for the lowest priced package, but you’ll have the opportunity to meet the cast and paintball equipment will be supplied to you. And, of course, it’s for a great cause, as all proceeds go to the Moving Mountains Youth Summer Program.
