Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
AMC has released the first production photo from the set of The Walking Dead, the adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic series now being shot in Atlanta.
“[Special Make-Up FX Artist] Greg Nicotero is absolutely outdoing himself,” director Frank Darabont said. “The work he is doing is beyond what one could hope for. Our zombies kick ass!”
If the gruesome, yet awesome, production shot isn’t enough — it arrives on the rotting heels of those amazing make-up test photos — the network’s Walking Dead blog also has posted an interesting behind-the-scenes video from the show’s “zombie school” (watch it below), and a brief Q&A with Darabont. And all that’s just in the past two days.
Based on the long-running Image Comics series by Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, The Walking Dead follows a group of people struggling to survive in the wake of an epidemic that’s left the world overrun by zombies. The six-episode first season, which stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden and Steven Yeun, debuts in October during the network’s annual Fearfest horror marathon.
