Robert Rodriguez Offered Deadpool?

Twentieth Century Fox has offered Deadpool to Sin City director Robert Rodriguez, Production Weekly and The Playlist report. Not that offering Rodriguez necessarily means anything; after all, Fox offered him the Planet of the Apes prequel, too.

However, for what it’s worth, The Playlist says the director is considering the film, which is being penned by Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Last we heard, Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds was on track to reprise his role from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The actor told MTV as recently as January that he was talking to Reese and Wernick “every single day.”

I wonder if he would make this into yet another of his anti-white people propaganda films?

  • Rich

hmpl, that's silly. There's no reason to ignore his body of work because you don't like the concept behind MACHETE (which hasn't even been released yet). If you want to generalize based on his projects, the only safe bet is that Rodriguez is against criminals and vampires.

  • Brianobx

    I'm down

  • hmpl

Funny you should say he is against criminals, as he supports illegal aliens, i.e. criminals, who just happen to live vampirically off this country.

  • Ryanc561

    please can this be true?

  • Sonofspam

I think he would be perfect next to the guy who did Pulp Fiction who would be the perfect pick but i know those two are close so yeah.

  • Rich

Well, the villains in his movies usually bite it in the end regardless of race, ethnicity, or nationality. I hope that gives you some comfort.

I recommend that you try to recognize the difference between the man and his output. He's made some darn good films that have nothing at all to do with your political hang-ups.

  • Comic Book Man

Rob Rod kicks ass. But I don't think he'll take it. If he does this will be awesome.

  • Wildstorm

I just hope that Deadpool is his “smart-assiest” as can be and also breaks the 4th wall like in the comics.

  • Demoncat_4

hope Robert can get the job that way dead pool will be kept of his core and with Robert directing dead pool with keep the sense of humor that makes the character so cool and fox will not be able to wind up turning dead pool into a train wreck of character

    Planet of the Apes! Again?

Look, Tim Burton's remake film had a great make-up or whatever for the stupid monkeys and the ending actually resembled the book, yet it still didn't work. How many remakes do they have now.

Ryan Reynolds is playing the green guy, which is the top comic around. Why would he play Marvel's over-pushed red guy. That's that J Scott Campbell incentive cover that caused all the stir. What's up with that?

As for the whole 'Machette' issue. One thing you have to realize about the film industry is they hate white people almost as much as they hate people of other colors, they're just more vocal about white people. They h

Rodirguez has got to be one of the best choices for a deadpool movie. As long as its version of deadpool we all love, and not the monstrosity seen in the latter half of xmen origins, I am very excited for this teaming.

one of the most hilarious retorts i've seen in a while. spot on.

  • Fesquire

im just hoping the writing won't suck. (I'm looking at you terrible puns and references.)

  • Liv

The guy who made Shark Boy and Lava Girl? Just…No.

  • Kiebler

If he RR has zero input on the script it might be Ok. Otherwise this will be a disaster.

  • Jason

I wouldn't mind seeing Rodriguez tackle this movie.

  • hmpl

So what you are saying is racism is forgivable if he makes cool movies?

I'm sorry, but you have some hang ups yourself. Under your logic, we should ignores Hitlers bad side cause he made some nice paintings when he was making a living as an artist.

  • Statboy

Means that Red Sonja will fall to another director if he takes this film, IF Conan's movie is successful. And if another person helms it, Rose McGowan probably won't be cast. Hope its not Megan Fox. That would be awful.

Reynolds has wanted to play Deadpool for like, 8 years. He reads Deadpools comics.

Green Lantern is just a job for him. A highly lucrative one sure, but it's just a job. Deadpool is his passion project that he has been pushing since 2002.

Reynolds is a poor choice for Hal Jordan anyway. Hal Jordan has the personality of a dish cloth. He's boring as hell. Reynolds is a snarky charismatic wise ass… perfect for Deadpool.

And the cover is a parody of Ali G. Deadpool is a satirical character.
