Accused Bootlegger Sues Movie Theater

This is spectacular: A woman accused of bootlegging the last Twilight movie – and who admits she was recording the opening of the movie on her phone – is suing the movie theater who accused her for malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and defamation.

Samantha Tumpach, who was removed from a Muvico theater in Chicago for what she claims was just trying to record her sister’s birthday party, has filed suit claiming that the manager of the theater went against the wishes of police and

signed the criminal complaint in hopes of collecting a reward for providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a person engaged in video piracy when he very well knew that she was guilty of no such act.

Tumpach is demanding more than $50,000 in compensatory damages. I almost hope she gets it, just for having the nerve to sue in the first place.

Well, it's an old saying: “The best defense is a strong offense.” More power to her, but I doubt she will win the case.

Videotaping in movie theatres is just not allowed. I bet they did warn her first before she tried defending her actions. No usher warned her? What an idiot.

I do think pushing charges on her and three years in prison too much though.

given how she is suing because she got caught illegaly recording the movie. odds are the case will get thrown out or the odd chance it goes to trial she will wind up having to pay the theatres legal fees .
