Four Directors Vie To Get Wicked

Popular musical Wicked is finally heading towards the big screen, and the line-up of directors up to take the project on is enough to convince even the wickedest witch to sign on to give it a chance.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Universal is talking to JJ Abrams, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, Chicago director Rob Marshall and Walk The Line‘s James Mangold about helming a movie version of the musical adaptation of Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The studio, which also produced the stage version of the musical, is reportedly also in talks with stage producer Marc Platt and show writers Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz. If Murphy gets the gig – and with his Glee buzz, he has to be one of the frontrunners – what do you think the odds would be to see that show’s Lea Michelle grab one of the lead roles?
