CCI: First Official Look At Destroyer Armor From Thor

CBR’s coverage of Comic-Con International 2010 is brought to you by Star Wars Celebration 5 and the following sponsors:

Thor director Kenneth Branaugh gave attendees at Comic-Con International the first official look at the Destroyer today, opening the golden doors behind Odin’s throne at the Marvel booth to reveal the classic villain.

A snapshot of the Destroyer armor taken on the film’s set briefly circulated online in late April before Paramount Pictures’ legal team swung into action. So this photo from the Marvel website provides our first sanctioned glimpse of the big-screen version of the Stan Lee-Jack Kirby character.

Debuting in 1965’s Journey into Mystery #118, the Destroyer is an enchanted suit of armor forged by Odin to battle a mysterious menace from the stars (later revealed to be the Celestials). The Destroyer has been used on numerous occasions by various characters, most notably (and most frequently) by Loki. It’s unknown what role the armor plays in the Thor film.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jamie Alexander and Anthony Hopkins, Thor opens on May 6, 2011.

um, yes it does. It's not as chunky as some of the renditions (possibly due to it being more `real' human proportioned rather than a comic-style `9-head' illustration) but the same basic design principals are there.

They've stayed true to the comics, which is a good thing. We need to see video and watch the armor in action before we can really form a good opinion. Could really go either way (giggity).
