Dimension Films Finds Writer For New American Werewolf

Taylor Lautner made werewolves cool for tweens in Twilight, and now John Landis’ classic horror comedy An American Werewolf In London is apparently headed for a remake, just in time to make them funny again, as well.

The LA Times’ 24 Frames blog is reporting that thriller The Number 23 writer Fernley Phillips will be writing the script for the new version of the movie, currently being developed by Scream studio Dimension Films. Weirdly enough, this is the second high-profile 1980s werewolf movie to get the remake treatment recently – Teen Wolf has already been turned into an MTV series that premieres this fall – and the third werewolf remake this year, if you consider Universal’s blink-and-it’s-gone The Wolfman. Can’t anyone come up with any new werewolf stories anymore?

I have come up with a new werewolf concept/etc. It's sad that Hollywood can't. Leave John and Rick's classic alone please…sheesh.

Hell, if you're going to do a werewolf concept, run with Marvel's Werewolf by Night. Any story/incarnation.
