Are Trolls The New Zombies? (Eh, Probably Not)

 

Although zombies, werewolves and vampires have been enjoying their time in the sun, so to speak, at least one monster has been sorely neglected in recent years in film and in literature: the unappreciated, and unbearably ugly, troll. Perhaps 1990′s Troll 2 — that “best worst movie” — is to blame for the slight. Or maybe horror cinema has only enough room for one slow-moving, dimwitted creature at a time.

Whatever the reason, it’s about to be challenged by Andre Ovredal’s Troll Hunter, which Twitch describes as a mockumentary that proposes the Norwegian government has been hiding a population of trolls, kept safe and far from prying eyes behind high-tension power lines in the far northern part of the country.
