Watch The Teaser For The Coen Brothers’ True Grit

Paramount Pictures has released the initial trailer for True Grit, Joel & Ethan Coens’ adaptation of the 1968 Western novel by Charles Portis. It was, of course, previously adapted as a 1969 film starring John Wayne.

The Coen brothers’ version, which reportedly is a more faithful take on the novel, stars Jeff Bridges as Marshal Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn, an alcoholic lawman who’s persuaded by 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) to track down her father’s killer (Josh Brolin) before a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon) does.

True Grit opens on Dec. 25.

They seriously remade this? Why not spend the money on something original?

You're seriously missing the point. This film has been made already. We don't need more remakes, we need more original films. I agree about the Coens, and would probably pay to see that film, before I ever see a piece of remade shit. Yes, all remakes are shit.
