New Versions Of Snow White On Their Way
The new trend for making “darker” movie versions of familiar fairy tales has reached Snow White, it seems: Not only is Disney working on its own Snow And The Seven, but other studios are eagerly exploring the potential of making Snow White And The Huntsman.
Huntsman – a pitch by He-Man And The Masters of The Universe screenwriter Evan Daugherty and commercials director Rupert Sanders – revises the story everyone knows by making the Huntsman not only the figure who fails to kill Snow, instead releasing her in the forest, but also someone who trains her how to survive and fight against her enemies. The project, which is expected to receive offers from studios before the end of the week, joins similar projects like Warners’ The Girl With The Red Riding Hood, Tim Burton’s Sleeping Beauty project Maleficent and Disney’s Cinderella remake in riding the coattails of the Disney/Burton Alice In Wonderland‘s success. Someone, somewhere, just adapt Bill Willingham’s Fables and get it over with, please.
