New Theatrical Trailer, Poster For Coen Brothers’ True Grit

On the heels of last week’s teaser, Paramount Pictures has released the full theatrical trailer for True Grit, Joel & Ethan Coens’ adaptation of Charles Portis’ 1968 novel. It’s as good as you might imagine; judge for yourself.

Here’s the official synopsis, for the film which opens on Dec. 25:

Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross’s (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him — over his objections — to hunt down Chaney. Her father’s blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.

In addition, the studio has released a fantastic teaser poster that, sadly, will probably be followed by something a little more traditional (please, no floating heads).

    Another remake? Moving on…

  • Bruce

Not really a remake since this version is actually following the book. Unlike the John WAyne version which only took certain aspects and completly changed the ending.

  • Bill Reed

Coens. Bridges. Damon. Roger freakin' Deakins doing the cinematography. This is a must-see.

And let's be honest, you most likely haven't seen the John Wayne version anyway, so what's it matter?

Oh my God. I want to see this VERY MUCH.
