When Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha made their rooftop pledge to become a wolf pack of blood brothers, they probably didn’t know that such a promise would take them to international territory — but when The Hangover 2 begins rolling in front of cameras in a few short weeks, that’s exactly where they’ll be.
“It takes place in Bangkok and LA,” director Todd Phillips told Empire of his plans for the soon-to-shoot Hangover sequel. “There’s gonna be some fucked-up surprises.”
Phillips confirmed that Cooper, Helms and Galifianakis will reprise their roles for the Thailand-set sequel, and while no mention was made of Bartha’s character, the director revealed that Ken Jeong would return to the series as filthy-mouthed gangster Mr. Chow. As for any nervousness he might feel about topping the original Hangover, Phillips acknowledged that it’s not unusual for a comedy sequel to fall short of its predecessor — a fact that he’s all too aware of as he prepares for The Hangover 2.
“I’m not delusional,” he said. “I know what I’m up against. I saw Meet The Fockers. But we’re aiming high. It’s called The Hangover Part Two, you know.”
