Pride And Prejudice And Zombies Soldiers On Without Portman & Russell

With director David O. Russell and star Natalie Portman no longer involved in adapting Seth Grahame-Smith’s post-apocalyptic revamp of the classic Jane Austen tale, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies seemed all but buried — but like the horrific monstrosities teased in the title, the project is apparently back from the dead.

Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson is the current frontrunner to replace Portman in Zombies. For the director’s job, Lionsgate reportedly considers Prince of Persia director Mike Newell as “the early front runner,” with Eclipse director David Slade and Descent filmmaker Neil Marshall also in the mix.

In further casting speculation, Bloody Disgusting says that offers have been made to Bradley Cooper and Mia Wasikowska to star in the bloodied-up period piece. Oscar winner Tilda Swinton is reportedly up for a role as well.

Tilda would be perfect for Darcy's aunt, Newell as director would be increadible!

No Portman! That is a big hit for me interest-wise. Should try and get Keira Knightly, even more poignant because she was in an actual adaption of P P.

Rachal Adams might make a good Elizibeth.

Guess she is about 10 years older than Elizibeth in the book, but still looks young enough provided they get a good match for Jane.

I agree Keira would be second best to Natalie, but I'm assuming niether are options, as they are the two obvious choices.

Had to think about Scarlett a little, as I generally thought of her as more of an innocent type. However she incredible in both Iron Man II, and Spirit. She is also a good age for the role, and would allow for good flexibilty casting Jane.

Watching Scarlett, and Bradley in “He just not that into you”, I think I like them together.

Scarlett does play a little gutsy, extend her with the stalwartness of her Natalie Rushman role, played against a snobbish, charming, sporty Bradley I think they would make a great pair here.

Don't know if there is a better choice for Darcy that Bradley. He is generally charming, and really did a great job as an snob in Wedding Crashers. I can see him doing very well in the Darcy transition from Snob.
