Mark Wahlberg Offered Crow Lead

As if the remake of 1994’s comic adaptation The Crow wasn’t filled with an unusual collection of collaborators already, news has broken that Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role of Eric Draven, resurrected man out for revenge.

Bloody Disgusting has confirmed the news that Wahlberg has been offered the role in the new version of the movie, which is currently undergoing a script rewrite that brings together Stephen Norrington (Blade, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and musician Nick Cave. Maybe it’s just because I’m so used to the Brandon Lee version of the character, but this seems more than a little out of left field, and not exactly what I was hoping for from the remake… What do you think?

If they cast him I wont be watching it at all.

    April fools!

    Huh? This is serious?

Wahlberg is so wrong for the role (he'd make a good villain though), but a big star (though asking him seems to just admit that it's open for any youngish action actor who can bring some audience). Norrington is undistinguished if financially mostly successful.

Nick Cave, though – that's right on track.

Please god no! Marky Mark is not the crow and now that I know that anyone who was involved with “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” is attached it makes me think this is going to be one big steaming pile of crap.

Most don't sound happy to hear this casting choice.

Why remake? Will never top original

  • Kerris

Why mess with perfection? The Crow does NOT need to be remade. I love Mark Walberg, but not this way. The idea of a remake makes me cringe. Way too early, guys. Twenty years from now, maybe.

  • Evil_s2003

Yeah, because The Crow needs to be remade. The first one came out in, what, 1994? Hey, Hollywood, I have a suggestion for you: If you can’t give me something original then don’t give me anything at all.
I won’t be watching another sub-par remake of a good movie.

  • Gregg N

I do not understand the love for the awful original.

  • Doug Ramsey

“Hey, Crow, I just want to talk to you. Other people want to eat you, I just want to talk to you. Say ‘hi’ to your mom for me.”
