Zombieland Writers To Take On Cowboy Ninja Viking For Disney

Disney has acquired the film rights to Cowboy Ninja Viking, the Image Comics series by AJ Lieberman and Riley Rossmo, Variety reports. Zombieland screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will pen and produce the adaptation.

Debuting in October 2009, the comic centers on the title character, the child of a psychotherapist who recruits patients with multiple personality disorder to create a unit of counter-intelligence agents called the Triplets. When those agents become out-of-control assassins, the deadliest Triplet of them all, Cowboy Ninja Viking, is called in to take them down.

Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan) and Management 360 (Game of Thrones) will produce the movie through their MG/360 joint venture.

This makes me so ridiculously happy. I adore this series. These creators deserve every bit of success they get.

This is excellent news. CNV is an amazing book, so I’m glad it’s being optioned…

… but I hated Zombieland. It had some good performances and a couple interesting gags, but the script was absolutely horrible and the direction was atrocious. And Mark Gordon has a consistently average (to less-than-average) record, with only the very occasional hint of ingenuity.

    Congrats to Riley & AJ!

The potential is certainly there for a fantastic adaptation to film.
