Why The Russos Are The Best Thing to Happen to the MCU Since Joss Whedon
Warner Bros. has released a preview of its 2011 movie slate that includes the first at Sherlock Holmes 2, the eagerly anticipated sequel to last year’s wildly successful action-mystery.
The image is, naturally, of returning stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law with new cast member Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) in her first Hollywood role. Not much is known about the Guy Ritchie-directed film beyond that Rapace plays the French gypsy Sim, Jared Harris is Professor Moriarty, and Stephen Fry appears as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft. Here’s what passes for the “official synopsis,” more than a year away from its Dec. 16, 2011, release:
Guy Ritchie helms a new action-packed adventure, following the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.), and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson (Jude Law), as they match wits with their arch-nemesis, the criminal genius Moriarty (Jared Harris).
