CN’s AS Picks Up NTSF:SD:SUV For 2011

If Adult Swim’s Children’s Hospital doesn’t fulfill your mainstream television drama parody need every week, don’t worry; the channel has just greenlit a new spin-off from the series based on a mock promo for a “12 hour season finale event.” Is the world ready for NTSF:SD:SUV?

As the name might suggest, NTSF:SD:SUV (or National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sports Utility Vehicle, to give the show its full title – No, really) does for crime procedurals what Children’s Hospital does for medical procedurals. The show will be written and produced by comedian Paul Scheer, who’ll also take the lead role, as he does in the original (fake) promo:

NTSF:SD:SUV:: w/ Paul Scheer, Rob Riggle, June Raphael and Brandon Johnson from Paul Scheer

According to Deadline Hollywood, the series has gone to full order without a pilot, and will get 12 episodes to impress, amaze or just confuse viewers next year.

…Wow. That was awful. Even by Adult Swim’s usually low standards.

Fine with me. I don’t even watch Adult Swim anymore. FX has Fully Baked and Comedy Central has been doing well with their late night programming also. Not to mention that TBS is starting to play American Dad in addition to Family Guy.

It looks wonderful! Enough with the self righteous violent cops in the tv shows. This parody is totally needed. Thank you!
