Steve Carell Can’t Quit Television

 

He may be leaving The Office at the end of the current season, but that doesn’t mean that Steve Carell is abandoning television for a movie career that’s seen such hits as Date Night, Dinner For Schmucks and The 40 Year Old Virgin. The comedian already has two new television projects in development.

According to Deadline, Carell has not only sold a new sitcom, currently titled The Post-Graduate Project to NBC – He’ll write and executive produce the show, which is described as “sweet and nostalgic take on the period of Carell’s early life as a mail carrier and centers on a small-town post office frequented by a quirky but tight-knit group of local twentysomethings” – but he’s also teamed with Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm director David Steinberg to produce a new television documentary about the evolution of comedy over the last six decades, with contributions from the likes of Tina Fey, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Judd Apatow, Jerry Seinfeld, Don Rickles and Mel Brooks, amongst many others.

Sure, neither of these are star vehicles for Carell, but that’s what cinema is for, right…?
