SPIDER-MANDATE: The Lowe-down on "Secret Wars," Tie-Ins and Stacey Lee
In case No Ordinary Family and the upcoming The Cape aren’t enough for you, Syfy has just given a series order to Alphas, a new superhero television series from the minds behind the X-Men movies and Lost.
Deadline reports that Alphas has been given an eleven episode order in addition to the 90 minute pilot shot last year, and directed by Lost producer/director Jack Bender. The series, co-created by X-Men movie writer Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, centers around a group of seemingly everyday people who possess unusual mental powers. The series was originally pitched to NBC more than three years ago, before being picked up by ABC, although creative differences (rumored to be along the lines of “Do they have to have superpowers?”) led to a parting of the ways and Syfy stepping in.
The series will be filmed next year, with a debut planned for Summer 2011.
