Check Out Concept Art From BSG Prequel Blood and Chrome

With news of Syfy’s cancellation of the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica and, just last week, Stargate Universe, I’d nearly forgotten that other BSG prequel Blood and Chrome. You, too, huh? Perhaps sensing that the upcoming series has dropped off the radar, the cable network has released the first concept art to its official blog Blastr — and it’s a little bit insane.

As you may or may not recall, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome is set during the 10th year of the First Cylon War as brash young viper pilot William Adama finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet … the Galactica.

The concept art for the two-hour pilot movie shifts somewhere between impressive and downright bizarre, with the images of the homicidal female Cylon made of tissue and metal and the enormous Cylon snake falling squarely in “bizarre” territory.

Is this Syfy’s attempt to make a mindless BSG action/adventure?

One of the main problems with Caprica was its deviation from BSG. The show would have been more successful if it was either not tied to BSG, or went for it and rang the bell. I don’t want to see another Battlestar show that doesn’t look like Battlestar, certianlt not one where the Cylons that don’t quite look like Cylons.
