Harrison Ford Doesn’t Want To Kill Indiana Jones

Harrison Ford doesn’t want to kill Indiana Jones. That might not seem like a sure thing based on the franchise-tainting Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but setting that aside, Ford doesn’t want the actual whip-wielding character to die.

At the very least, his recent comments expressing his desires to kill off Indy aren’t accurate. An alleged insider recently told Showbiz Spy that Ford and Steven Spielberg were warming up to the idea of killing the iconic hero in a possible fifth film, with Indy passing the torch to his son Mutt (Shia LaBeouf) before kicking the bucket.

“George especially is resisting the notion but Steven is considering it. Funnily enough Harrison wanted the same for Han Solo in the final Star Wars but George put an end to it. This time he doesn’t have all the say though.”

But don’t worry, the bad man isn’t coming to inappropriately fondle your childhood, at least not yet. Ford’s representatives tell Huffington Post that his reported interested in killing Indiana Jones simply isn’t true, which hopefully means there won’t be a fifth franchise-killing movie coming at all.

I like Crystal Skull. I know that makes me a bit of a pariah, but whatever. Better than Temple of Doom

George Lucas may not have all the say, but it was obvious in many of Harrison Ford’s interviews that George Lucas can be pretty stubborn if he doesn’t get his way. I think there were many occasions where Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford had agreed on story points for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but George Lucas wouldn’t go along with them.

I really liked the character moments in Crystal Skull, but the rest of the movie felt too cheesy. The aliens, swinging monkeys, ants, etc. Just too over the top.

I wasn’t interested in Crystal Skull. Last Crusade was the perfect bookend to the franchise.

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was a good film. It wasn’t great but it sits right below the Temple Of Doom in my mind. Heck, the film made almost 784 million worldwide which makes it one of the largest grossing films of all time. For all these Indy “fans” who spew on about bad it was….it’s quite apparent that they all went and saw it and many of them twice!.
I am so looking forward to another Indiana Jones film!
    Get on it guys!

That would be a stupid thing to do.

I don’t think they are going to kill of indiana for one reason he was an an old man looking back at his child hood in the young indiana jones chronicals. this would fly against that series

It may not have been a bad film but it definitely was not the same caliber of the others in the series, nor would i call it a good film. Numbers don’t always speak to the quality of the film either. The reason so many people went to see it was for the characters and the aura of the Indiana Jones persona, to see the continuation of one of America’s favorite characters and stories. And the reason so many of them saw it twice was to give it another chance to try and salvage the dignity of the Indiana jones series and its sheer awesomeness. We really didn’t think it could be as bad as we thought the first time and had to watch it again just to make sure. It wasn’t a terrible movie and probably would have been received more positively if it hadn’t been labeled as Indiana Jones. But alas, it was, and I can’t help but feel that the last movie has slightly sullied the name.

I too really enjoyed the crystal skull, and before you make the comment about how its because im a young fan, my dad who was around for the original three, said it was his joint favorite of the series, alongside Raiders.

And once again we see people put films on a pedestal, and ignore just how corny they really are. Crystal Skull was entirely in keeping with the previous three films. But some people have elevated those films on a pedestal, and no longer see it. Yes, they had Russians instead of Nazis. But Nazis wouldn’t make sense with the era. As for the alien aspect, people seem to forget that the Indy franchise is basically modern day serials. The first three were action-adventure serials, which were prominent in the 30′s. And then 20 years later, Crystal Skull used Aliens because that was the hot property in the era of the 50′s. It all makes sense.

“I don’t think they are going to kill of indiana for one reason he was an an old man looking back at his child hood in the young indiana jones chronicals. this would fly against that series ”

Those scenes are no longer canon for the series. Which is why they were cut from the DVD releases.
You’ll note that the YIJC showed Indy’s only child to be a daughter, which is another reason it was cut.
Because originally the plan was to give Indy a daughter to carry on the name. But this changed to the son, Mutt.
