Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
Sarah Michelle Gellar is coming back to television, but sadly, it’s not by way of a relaunched Buffy the Vampire Slayer series spearheaded by Joss Whedon and the gang in an effort to defeat that dastardly cinematic reboot.
Instead, Gellar is putting her vampire-hunting ways behind her with the starring role in Ringer, a new CBS pilot from Supernatural writers and producers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder. Deadline reports that Ringer focuses on a troubled young woman (Gellar) who is on the run from the mob. The woman attempts to dodge her enemies by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister, but soon realizes that her twin has a bounty on her head as well.
If the pilot is picked up for a full series, Ringer would mark the first time Gellar has held a starring role on television since the end of Buffy. She previously starred in The Wonderful Maladys, a drama pilot for HBO that the network ultimately passed on.
