Ben Affleck Calls Out American Bullshit

Ben Affleck isn’t wanting for possible directing vehicles to choose from thanks to his celebrated work on The Town. He reportedly shot down the chance to direct the Superman reboot and has his eye on films including the New York Yankees-centric The Trade as well as Replay, about a radio journalist who dies and gets to relive his life over and over again.

But for his next project, Affleck might explore some American Bullshit instead. Deadline reports that the director is circling the movie based on Eric Warren Singer’s script, which is the eighth-ranked screenplay on the 2010 Black List. American Bullshit is described as “the true story of Abscam, the FBI’s 1980 undercover sting operation of Congress to root out corruption which was the brainchild of the world’s greatest con man.”

Affleck hasn’t committed to the project quite yet, but it sounds like a strong next step given the content of his last two films. Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are producing the movie through Atlas Entertainment and Sony Pictures.

Oh, I thought it might be about him and Damon “writing” the screenplay for that movie that won the Oscar.
