Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Will Go "All the Way Dark," Promise Rosenberg & Loeb
From the plains of Middle Earth to the woods of the Evil Queen’s kingdom. Actor Viggo Mortensen is currently in talks to star in Universal’s upcoming re-imagining of the fairy tale classic, Snow White and the Huntsman, as reported by Variety.com earlier today.
This new version follows mostly along the same path of the timeless tale, with the Evil Queen hiring a huntsman to kill Snow White in order to secure her own place as “the fairest of them all.” In the classic, the huntsman spares Snow and sends her off where she eventually encounters the Seven Dwarfs. However, in the upcoming film penned by Evan Daugherty, the huntsman joins with Snow White and becomes her protector and mentor. What that exactly entails is currently unknown, but could mean anything from romantic interest to fatherly figure to Obi-Wan to Snow’s Luke.
With Charlize Theron already in negotiations, only the dark-haired beauty Snow White remained. The Heat Vision blog brought news on that front when then reported that Twilight it-girl Kristen Stewart might be a contender for the role. The site also reports that Emily Browning–star of the Zack Synder directed Sucker Punch–tested for the part last week.
With the cast slowly coming together and with a planned summer filming for a December 2012 release, the Rubert Sanders directed Snow White and the Huntsman just may get its happily ever after, after all.
