Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Ahead of Wednesday’s premiere, FX has released two posters for Season 2 of Justified, the critically acclaimed neo-Western set in the hill country of Eastern Kentucky. That gives me an excuse to post the trailer, which debuted a couple of weeks ago when I was taking a few days off, as well as the new preview.
Based on the protagonist from Elmore Leonard’s novels Pronto and Riding the Rap and the short story “Fire in the Hole,” the series centers on Raylan Givens (Deadwood‘s Timothy Olyphant), a no-nonsense, Stetson-wearing U.S. marshal who’s reassigned to his native Eastern Kentucky after killing a gun thug in a Miami hotel. Following the death of Bo Crowder (M.C. Gainey) in last season’s finale, Givens must deal with the criminal organizations moving to fill that void in Harlan County, while again becoming entangled with the mercurial Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins).
Returning with Olyphant and Goggins are Nick Searcy as Chief Deputy Art Mullen, Jacob Pitts as Deputy Marshall Tim Gutterson, Erica Tazel as Deputy Marshal Rachel Brooks, Joelle Carter as Ava Crowder and Natalie Zea as Winona Hawkins. They’re joined by Margo Martindale, Jeremy Davies, Joseph Taylor and Brad William Henke as member of the Bennett family, a clan of pot farmers that’s feuded with the Givens family since Prohibition.
The second season of Justified debuts Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
