Does "Hellboy in Hell" Finale Signal the End of Mike Mignola's Time With the Character?
You may remember hearing at the beginning of this week that Tara Reid said she’d be working on a Big Lebowski sequel sometime this year. No one really believed it, but the news took a bunch of people by surprise all the same … including original Lebowski filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen.
“I’m glad she’s working on it,” Ethan said in an interview with Austin360. Responding to the question of whether a sequel is in the works, he added, “Well, we don’t but we’ll watch it when it comes out.” After which Joel immediately chimed in, “Especially if Tara’s in it.”
The mystery of what exactly Tara was talking about has since been cleared up, in a statement made by her publicist to Entertainment Weekly: “She heard Jeff Bridges say that he wanted to make Big Lebowski 2 and have all the original cast members in it, so she may have misspoke, thinking that included her based on what Jeff said.”
Glad we cleared that up. While it would be cool to see The Dude on the big screen again, I can’t imagine a scenario where it would make any sort of sense. Lebowski stands on its own, and the story is good right where the Coens left it.
