Could The Amazing Spider-Man Feature Epic Battle Of Lizards?

The Amazing Spider-Man #631, by Chris Bachalo

Although the provenance of this latest Amazing Spider-Man rumor leaves something to be desired, it suggests a scene so potentially fantastic that we can only hope it’s true.

Big Fan Boy passes along a nugget from a trusted reader, who was told by “one of the primary important crew members” of the Marc Webb-directed movie, that Spider-Man will face a horde of Lizards. Or is that lowercase “L”? In any case, the site reports “that many of the stunt actors in the film have been spending time in heavy make-up for hours on end because of a fight scene in the film where they’re turning all the S.W.A.T. team guys into reptilian creatures.”

See? Fantastic. If the rumor is true, we can safely presume that Rhys Ifans’ Lizard or Irrfan Khan’s Van Atter/Van Adder is behind the scaly transformation. Slashfilm’s Russ Fischer envisions a plotline in which Van Atter employs Curt Connors to create a serum that spawn “an army of reptilian monsters.” That would be perfectly fine by me.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Campbell Scott, C. Thomas Howell, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse. The film, which began production in December, will be released on July 3, 2012.

The sad thing is I can’t figure out who is Spider-man is supposed to be in the books. He’s not the same guy that he used to be. I couldn’t stand him and felt betrayed as a reader for things undone. Promises lied. It’s probably the same with this movie. It’s Ultimate then it’s Amazing. Which is it?
Ultimate Spider-man was a fine book, but like everything at Marvel in the last five to ten years, it’s been messed with. It didn’t need to be rerenumbered and then destroyed and then killed. I imagine it will be ending soon despite the fact that people still really like the book.

I still love the old Spider-man. The Spider-man that had stories that went somewhere and he wasn’t a pathetic man-child. Yes, he was married, but that wasn’t the only thing about him.

My guess is the movie was rushed and will probably be a mess like the book and that sad musical. Not exactly the glory days for Spider-man.

what? you seemed to start with a point but just wanted to rant…

A movie doesn’t and shouldn’t try to be just like a 40 yr old book. It should take the best from the book and expand it for a film audience…

I think that Mr. Vann has a part of creating the lizard. He disided to make a army of lizard?… (maybe) Or!, The lizard turn others into other lizard’s?… Who knows. It’s about the lizard and that the only thing we know. I hope the do a cameo with some other villain in the end. Or!, maybe mention some villains name and spider-man swing into action crashing to the camera. It’s all about the 3D on this movie… Right?

Lets hope that webb considers that we want a kick ass fight between spidey and lizard/lizards and he needs to not water it down to make it a 12a or pg13 or watever ya want to call it :L i wana see a gruesome mutation into a badass scary lookin lizard and not a pussy lizard much like how raimi interpreted venom….seriously he ruined venom for me….
