Rumor: Possible Plot Details Emerge For The Dark Knight Rises
For all the virtual ink that’s been devoted to The Dark Knight Rises, we know very little about the film — not so usual for a Christopher Nolan project. Beyond the return of the central cast and the additions of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane, virtually everything else is either unconfirmed or speculation (or a hoax).
But now Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci reports that “a good source near the Batcamp” has provided him with information that seems to confirm much of the speculation swirling around The Dark Knight Rises these past few months. No, not that bit about “Robin’s Cave.” Sorry. Needless to say, potential spoilers follow.
According to Faraci’s source, Batman will face the League of Shadows, the organization led by Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson) in 2005’s Batman Begins (in DC Comics continuity, the group is called the League of Assassins). With Ra’s dead, his daughter Talia is heading up the League, with her muscle/possible love interest Bane in tow. The source wasn’t sure about Gordon-Levitt’s role, but he appears to be in league with the, um, League. If nothing else, the return of the assassins serves as bookends for Nolan’s trilogy.
As for Catwoman? It sounds like Nolan’s take on the character is close to that of modern comics, with Selina Kyle operating in some gray area between hero and villain.
Although Faraci says he’s “pretty confident that this info is good,” he also notes that Nolan is known to sow misinformation to throw fans off the scent. So make of those details what you will.
Starring Academy Award winner Christian Bale, The Dark Knight Rises begins production in April for a July 20, 2012, release.
