Battlestar Galactica’s James Callis Joins Ron Moore’s 17th Precinct

James Callis and Matt Long

Ronald D. Moore’s NBC pilot 17th Precinct is shaping up to be a veritable Battlestar Galactica reunion, first with the hiring of director Michael Rymer, then with the casting of Jamie Bamber and now with the addition of James Callis.

Deadline reports that Callis, who’s best known for his award-winning portrayal of Gaius Baltar in BSG, will play a homicide detective named Jeff in the police procedural set in a town where science takes a backseat to the supernatural.

Matt Long, who starred in Jack & Bobby and recently appeared on Mad Men, has also joined the cast as a rookie detective. The pilot, which was greenlit in January, also stars veteran actress Stockard Channing.

Awesome. Hadn’t heard about this before, but with those 4 BSG vets involved, it’s sure to be awesome.

    (i hope)
