Russian X-Men Trailer Reveals New Footage, Banshee In Action

When the first trailer for X-Men: First Class debuted last month, I noted that Caleb Landry Jones’ Banshee was all but absent, leading me to wonder whether the character was either killed off early or relegated to a very minor role.

Well, fear not, fans of Marvel’s Sean Cassidy … and Caleb Landry Jones (does the actor have a following yet?): The film’s new Russian trailer reveals plenty of new footage, including shots of young Bashee flying and emitting his sonic scream. We’re also shown Lucas Till’s Havok using his powers — we saw the aftermath in that most recent still — and more of Nicholas Hoult’s Beast flying the Blackbird. However, it’s Michael Fassbender’s Erik Lensherr/Magneto who receives the most screen time, as glimpses of his childhood are revealed. Check out the trailer below.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, X-Men: First Class stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Henry McCoy/Beast, Lucas Till as Alex Summers/Havok, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy/Banshee, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Oliver Platt as the Man in Black, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggart and Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore. It opens on June 3.

Despite the horrible quality of the posters we’ve had so far the trailers for this film have got me really pumped.

I’m telling you, this movie is the one expecting to flop, but it really looks good. REALLY GOOD!

Sure, it’s modest compared to Thor, Captain America and Green Lantern, but the story and visuals look great! I think this movie is going to surprise some people.

I’m sure I can put away my comic book sensibilities and accept Havok coming before Cyclops, just as long as this movie turns out well and we get Scott in the sequel.

Agreed. I’ve only had the disappointment in Fox’s willing disrespect of the X-men lore (killing Cyclops, not beginning with the original members of the team for 1st class). It sucks how they’ve treated the franchise but my respect and trust in Matthew Vaughan is unquestioned. I also like how he put it with the 1st 2 X-men movies–he said people think they had a lot of action but they didn’t–and I couldn’t agree more–I can’t even watch the 1st 2 x-men movies because they just were marginal films. Nothing like Spiderman 2.

It looks the best of all the comic book movies this year. While Thor is visually spectacular, its premise is far too absurd to hold my interest.

Also, Emma Frost is in this film which gives it millions of bonus points

How come Russia gets a better trailer?

I never understood the notion that some fans expect a maybe 2.5 hour movie to be exactly like a 40+year old comic book…as long as the characters and concepts keep the same essence, I have no issue with changing the story to create a new universe. It’s one thing if you change Spider-Man’s origin so Uncle Ben lives and his Aunt May is a stripper. It’s another when you instead of change X-Men so that maybe the first class isn’t the comic book first class. It’s not that serious.

Perhaps they think X-Men is not as well known in Russia so they add extra scenes?
