Underworld 4, Abraham Lincoln Confirm New Cast Members

Michael Ealy

Hollywood apparently hasn’t heard that people are having a rough time finding jobs right now. In a sweeping update today, Deadline reported confirmations on new cast members in several upcoming films, including two that I’d wager the bulk of you readers are particularly interested in: Underworld 4 and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Underworld gets Michael Ealy (Seven Pounds), who will star with Kate Beckinsale as a police officer who ends up falling in with the vampire. The story follows Beckinsale’s Selene as she learns that she has a 14-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter. Ealy will presumably be out of his element facing off against all manner of supernatural beasties with a police-issue revolver, but something tells me he’ll get the hang of it before the credits roll.

Also confirmed is Robin McLeavy for Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, in which she’ll play Honest Abe’s mother Nancy Hanks Lincoln. As anyone who has read the book knows, Nancy’s role is a small yet important one. She shows up early and sets the stage for many of the events to come.

Are they really still milking the Underworld franchise? Jesus, let it die already.

I think the Underworld franchise is like the Resident Evil film franchise–they may not last very long in theatres, but they’re still profitable when the bean counters finish adding up everything.

Personally, I think Underworld is kind of cool in a Hammer studios-ish kind of way…

    No Daddy Lycan??

Has Timur done the third part of his Night Watch trilogy?

I disagree. I love the franchise with every movie getting better. Upset that they are not bringing back Speedman’s character though.

    Nice casting choice.

I liked the first two. The third one sucked except for Michael Sheen of course.

And for the record, Scott Speedman is much hotter than Michael Ealy.

    Mmm, Michael Ealy. Very delicious.

I find them to be the some of the most entertaining of recent sci-fi/fantasy movies. Now if you don’t enjoy that genre then I can see why you don’t understand why they keep making them. Also, to be fair the second one was admittedly weak but the first and third made up for it.
