Adult Swim Calls For Two More Seasons Of The Venture Bros.

With the release today of The Venture Bros.: Season 4, Vol. 2 DVD and the Complete Season 4 Blu-ray, creator Jackson Publick has finally — finally! — made some major announcements about the series’ future. That’s primarily because he and collaborator Doc Hammer blab them on the DVD.

“It just occurred to me that Doc and I mouthed off about our big news all over the DVD commentaries, assuming when we recorded them in November/December that this would all be public knowledge by now,” Publick writes on his Livejournal. “And since our fans seem to enjoy listening to the commentary tracks the day our DVDs come out — and then immediately discussing them on the internet (FIRST!) — this particular cat will soon be out of this particular bag anyway. So who better than this confessed cat person to deliver it safely?”

So what are those cats announcements? He and Doc have signed a deal with Adult Swim for two more seasons of The Venture Bros. — which includes 60- to 90-minute special.

“Don’t ask me when we’ll make it, what it’s going to be about, or whether it’ll be on TV or direct-to-DVD, because we don’t have a clue yet,” Publick writes. “Nevertheless: good news!”

What’s more, the duo has officially begun work on Season 5, with a goal of having enough scripts “to comfortably begin pre-production by June.”

And if that’s not enough for you, there’s also this gem: “We’ve been secretly working on an 11-minute Venture Bros. special for the past couple of months. A sort of light-hearted, one-off little aperitif we’re producing and animating entirely in-house at Titmouse Studios in NY and LA. It will premiere some time this summer.”

So, yeah: Go, Team Venture!

Go Team Venture indeed. This is wonderful news! Does anyone know if the 4th season is available on DVD in its entirety, or is it just being sold in two parts? I’d rather get the whole enchilada at once, but I am too poor for blu ray

  • Dark Spark

Its available combined in the blu rays edition, but the dvd version is split in to part 1 and 2.

    Oh God yes!

Best news so far this year.

  • Jacob

Okay, question: Venture was renewed for two seasons after season three. Did they use that additional season order on the extended season four? Or are we actually talking up to season seven?

    There is a God!

And He is a Venture Bros. fan.

So glad to hear. I’m sorry to say that Adult Swim has the most inconsistent scheduling ever. I remember, gloriously, once there was a time when we had new Venture Brothers, Metalocalypse and Robot Chicken on the same night along with other shows as well. We have had to wait years at a time for new episodes and then they get broken up by months. I think Season 4 of Venture Bros was split by like 9 months. I love the shows but seriously, adhere to a schedule already.

  • ATK

Season 4 ended up being broken into two production schedules, therefore it technically was two seasons. I remember this as well and was severly disappointed in the production delay. And here I thought the reason they renewed it for two seasons was so that we wouldn’t have to wait years for new episodes.

sweet! Team Venture for another 7 years! That’s how it works right?

  • Jacob

Season 4 was split because they retooled the second half of the season. Instead of thirteen episodes, they made seventeen.

  • Jacob

That is definitely how it works.

  • Dawnell_do

    All I can say is…awesome!

Hey, when does/did the new season start?
