Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Last night Entertainment Tonight teased its exclusive “first look at the next superhero blockbuster,” flashing new clips from Captain America: The First Avenger, including a shot of Chris Evans throwing his shield.
The segment will air on tonight’s episode — check your local listings or the show’s website for time and channel — which signals we’ll see a full-length trailer sometime this week, perhaps as early as this evening. (Note: The video below has a terrible echo, but I’m not sure whether that’s because of poor recording or an annoying “Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!”-style sound effect.)
The Joe Johnston-directed film, which opens on July 22, stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Richard Armitage, Natalie Dormer, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough, Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson.
Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
