Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
Sam Claflin and Alicia Vikander are in talks to play lead roles in The Seventh Son, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ adaptation of the young-adult fantasy The Last Apprentice, Variety reports.
Joseph Delaney’s bestselling novels center on a boy with second sight who’s trained by the County Spook, whose job it is fight ghosts, witches and creatures of the night.
The 24-year-old Claflin, who appears as the missionary Philip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, would play gifted apprentice Thomas J. Ward, who’s just 12 in the first book. Vikander would portray Alice Deane, a young girl who grows up to be a witch.
Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore are already in negotiations to John Gregory, the prolific and mysterious 18th-century Spook, and a witch, respectively.
Sergey Bodrov (Nomad, Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) is set to direct.
