Marvel unveiled two new Thor character posters today at WonderCon in San Francisco spotlighting Chris Hemsworth as the god of thunder and Tom Hiddleston as the god of mischief in the highly anticipated film.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, Thor, which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Those helmets are freaking badass. I can’t wait for this movie.

    One word: NICE.

They should keep the helmets out of advertisements. We think they look awesome, but the average movie goer is going to be wtfing hard.

They’ve been pretty careful with it so far, so they probably think the same thing as you. This is the first time I’ve really seen them at the forefront of any promotion and they are pretty stylized.

And they were hiding these helmets from promos… why?

  • Leto

So that casual viewers are not put-off by their ostentatiousness.

Best. Movie. Helmet. Ever. And Loki’s helmet looks nice too.

  • Kal El

my only complaint is that it doenst look like Thor will wear much of his Helmet AT ALL in the movie.

It seems like just a minute or so during his entry into Odins throne room. Maybe at the very end.
That kinds pisses me off too.

    These helmets are AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think the average movie goer is as stupid as you seem to believe. I can’t recall anyone ever WTFing over Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson etc. The trailers for Thor are pretty self-explanatory

I never said they were stupid. I was more saying that this is very high-concept fantasy/sci-fi shit and that some of it looks very, VERY weird out of context.

Probably treated as more of a formal thing…

High concept fantasy? The dude throws a hammer at shit and they fall down. Don’t make it out to be something other than another Marvel action film. Entertaining yes, but hardly high concept.

:| It’s like you know nothing about the franchise at all. There’s more to him throwing his hammer. He’s a God. Asgard, Midgard, Niflheim, Hel, the Æsir, the Jötunn, Ragnarok, Yggdrasil, Bifrost. A significant portion of Thor’s mythology is based on actual Norse mythology (clearly with some major embellishments and changes). How is that anything but high-concept fantasy?

    EXCELLENT Movie…..we all loved it….
