An Evil Dead Remake Is Written, Bruce Campbell Will Produce

Bruce Campbell can’t go anywhere without hearing the same old question again and again: “What’s up with Evil Dead?” Fans don’t really know what they want — a sequel to Army of Darkness, a remake, a reboot, something that hasn’t been invented yet — but they definitely want something. Who can blame them? Evil Dead rules, and if it didn’t get the credit it deserved when it was first released (it didn’t), then there’s still time to correct that.

Campbell recently sat down for an interview with Reddit (via The Playlist) during which he took fan questions. When the inevitable Evil Dead query came up, instead of falling back on his stock, non-informative-but-inevitably-funny response, the actor actually came out with some real news!

“NEWSFLASH: We are remaking Evil Dead. The script is awesome. I will be one of the producers and possibly play the milk man.”

Campbell isn’t always the most serious guy, so he could simply be pulling our collective legs here. This is the first indication of any future movement on the Evil Dead front in quite some time though, so let’s all cross our fingers and hope for the best.

  • Kevin Hurtack

He’s too damn old to play Ash.

  • el_caifan

He’s not too old–anybody else in the role of Ash would be sacriligious!

  • Tomfitz1

Maybe he can play the father of ASH. as in ASH, sr. as opposed to ASH, jr.

  • Bill Reed

In a remake, he should be the professor whose voice is on the dreaded tape.

But I’d rather have Evil Dead 4.
