Lost actor Nestor Carbonell is in talks to reprise his role as Mayor Anthony Garcia in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, Variety reports.
His character appeared in key scenes in 2008’s The Dark Knight, meeting with District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) about the indictments of 500 mob players, leading a public funeral for Police Commissioner Loeb (where Garcia himself was attacked by the Joker), and naming James Gordon (Gary Oldman) as Loeb’s successor.
Carbonell, who’s widely known for his portrayal of Richard Alpert in Lost, played Batmanuel in the short-lived Tick series. He recently shot the CBS drama pilot Ringer, which stars Sarah Michelle Gellar.
In The Dark Knight Rises he’ll join returning stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. The cast calso includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata and, presumably, Marion Cotillard. It was reported earlier this week that Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman are also being considered for supporting roles.
Written by Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer, The Dark Knight Rises begins filming this summer in Pittsburgh before moving to London, Los Angeles and New York City. It opens on July 20, 2012.
