More Than 40 New (And Spoilery) Images From X-Men: First Class

Twentieth Century Fox has unleashed an avalanche of new stills from X-Men: First Class, some of which would seem to reveal important plot elements from the Matthew Vaughn-directed franchise prequel/reboot. You’ve been warned!

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

X-Men: First Class stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, January Jones as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Henry McCoy/Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme/Mystique, Lucas Till as Alex Summers/Havok, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy/Banshee, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Oliver Platt as the Man in Black, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggart and Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore. It opens in the U.K. on June 1 and in the United States on June 3.

This movie is looking crappier by the moment.  I am still unconvinced that this is just being made so that 20th century fox can hold the rights.

  • boyblunder

really? what gave u that idea?

  • renzo moreno

    Genial (Y)

  • Jeho Hanan

it looks like it is getting better to me.

  • Ivanchy_p

Really? I know it’s a bit deviated from the original plot but so far the X-Men have not looked better, Mystique and Emma Frost are spot on! I cannot wait to June 3, this looks amazing.

  • Boykonaut

It just seems off to me. The sfx, the story, everything.  I was a little bit excited at first, but then they started releasing pics & trailers and they just don’t seem right.  I will go see and try to hold an open opinion, but for now I am fearing the worst.

  • Fckoff75

    what a load of ?
When are they gonna stop messing with perfection and get it right. That’s it i’m never watching any more of this crap back to comics and cartoons for me.
If there is anyone who would be willing to work with me and make this world a better place, lets show these fool how it’s done. Lets raise some money and do this our selves.

  • Mythos

That picture with Sebastian Shaw holding the helmet proves my theory that the character people have been mistaking for ‘Magneto’ all along has always been Shaw.

  • Nemo1540

I refused to see a trailer and I still do. I want this movie to make my summer or break it. The pics don’t excite me much but the actors do. They have been top of the line for years. The costumes are ok but the look like sky divers. I am crossing my fingers my legs my muscles my eyes and testies that this movie will do good! Marvel has not let me down since nerver! So let’s not start now….

  • Coryjameson

This movie looks better than mofo Thor. I hope it does really well. The concepts and ideas in the movie are far cooler science fiction than the cognitive dissonance hot mess that Thor is.

  • Ricardo Barandiaran

Like it. it’s an interesting take on the origins of x-men, i just hope it’s a new start and not trying to be a precuel, like it’s been said before.

  • Redheadredemption21

Also… In Brian singers X-Men, if you remember the beginning of the movie when wolverine cuts the shot gun in half he was watching tv. On the tv screen was Henry McCoy as a human beast and not as the blue fur ball wolverine like to call him. Meaning somewhere in between one and two he became beast. This is suppose to be the prequel and well they didn’t count on us catching that… So that’s a pretty big mistake there…

  • Lead_sharp

but there’s a shot of Eric in the helmet.

  • mdk

Mystique sure had a lot of baby fat back in the day.  It’s surprising she grew up to be a supermodel.

  • Spidey

Just glancing through the pictures, I thought that picture of Shaw sitting on the couch, toasting, was photoshopped as a joke. I never look for stuff like that (so I hope this doesn’t sound immature), but they should really change that picture.

  • mdk

Oh yeah, one more thing… Why is the Cat In The Hat flying the Blackbird?

  • Anonymous

So Shaw was a Nazi scientist?

  • Ulmurderone

     Im in!

  • Jerjerbinks

I thought the helmet provided protection from Xavier’s abilities. If this is an early version of the Hellfire Club, then Magneto could easily steal or be given the helmet, no?

  • Excelsior

no darwin pics= Dead as a doornail

  • Lucasburch93

Hmm. These aren’t as spoilery as i thought they were. Still awesome though.

  • kalorama

That’s my take on it. In fact, in one of the trailers, there’s a shot of Magneto punching a guy wearing Magneto’s helmet. Presumably that’s Shaw.

  • kalorama

I didn’t think they were spoilery at all, really.

  • 2000filmfan

    Beast looks fantastic.

  • Blurgixxerninja

i too will have an open mind for this movie. matthew vaughn is known for his storytelling. he can put together a movie that doesn’t feel like some hack slap it together. hopefully he can pull it off and we get one great film. although, if it does well, fox will never let go of the rights. i wonder how long was the agreement with marvel for the x-men franchise? i bet marvel is kicking themselves in their arse for signing out spiderman and x-men. 2 of their biggest franchises! hopefully the avengers and their slew of stand-alone movies keep making big money for them!

  • Bumbles

I get the feeling that Frost is using Shaw and he develops/steals the helmet to keep Frost out of his head (as we know that’s what the later version at the very least can do).

  • Dmg

Beast in the comics went from human-looking (early X-Men) to blue-and-furry (Avengers years) to human-looking (early X-Factor) and back to blue-and-furry.  If it’s a “mistake,” it’s one in line with the source material.

  • Dmg

    I believe it:

  • pDUB

    cognitive dissonance?

  • Urban Jay

Don’t particularly like Marvel. Stopped buying their comics years ago! Even so I probably will go ahead and see this.

  • Jacob

It’s a Sony movie, not a Marvel movie.

  • Jacob

Betcha five dollars this IS the later version, and that Mags just painted it.

  • Jacob

Because the sun was not shining and it was too wet to play.

  • Jacob

Cognitive Dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding conflicting ideas simultaneously. Best (and simplest) example of this I can think of immediately is Schrodinger’s Cat. It is both alive and dead at the same time, despite that being impossible.

How it applies to Thor, I have no idea. I had no problem following the movie.

  • Beachsequence

     40 pictures and nothing new.

  • Dpholder

    I’m soooooo Keen :D

  • Anonymous

    Dear God Kravitz looks gorgeous.

    Azrael still looks awful …

  • Peruna

Why is Angel Salvadore in this movie? Just…why, I don’t even

  • Ryanc

Seriously, I doubt you have as much talent as Matthew Vaughn, Bryan Singer, or will find any actors as good as Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy or Jennifer Laurence. Hell, even Kevin Bacon.

  • Ryanc

Their spoilery in showing that Shaw created the Magneto helmet which Magneto most likely steals, and that Angel Salvadore was a spy for the Hellfire Club as was teased in an earlier interview

  • Ryanc

Kevin Bacon looks creepy as always.
