New Green Lantern Trailer Debuts

Warner Bros. has premiered a new trailer for Green Lantern featuring narration by Geoffrey Rush’s Tomar-Re that conveniently lays out the mythology for the uninitiated. And it’s easily the best Green Lantern trailer to date.

The Martin Campbell-directed movie, which opens in 2D and 3D on June 17, stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Temuera Morrison, Tim Robbins, Taika Waititi and Angela Bassett.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

YES! WOOT! This looks fantastic! We love comics and we love Green Lantern.. so this just makes us SOOOO happy! Looks like it’s gonna be a good comic adaptation, unlike “CatWoman,” “Ghost Rider” and “The Fantastic Four.” The quality of this film looks more in line with the “Iron Man” and “X-Men” movies or the reboot “Batman” movies or “Watchmen.” We are psyched! And yes I know I’m naming DC and Marvel movies, they are comic book adaptations all the same.

this is great, only complaint is that I wish they didn’t include the grim “GL’s light!” and used a calmer oath instead – a bit too over the top – but hope this gets bums in seats!!

  • Arkkis Chummuck

where did you see it in 3-D, you lucky dog? Look forward to it!

  • Coryjameson

Wow. That looks amazing. I love the fantastical elements to it. I love the way he flies on OA and some of those constructs are simply BOSS.
This is going to be the best comic book movie this summer. Awesome.

  • Paladin Luke37

AW HELL YEAH IM SEEING THIS!

This was the best trailer without a doubt. Thor for all the money it made the first 2 weeks was a let down because of a weak story and the poor use of Odins destroyer ( where was the knock down fight between Thor and his Doomsday ).   This seems to have covered all the bases.

  • Sirnougat

That, finally, was what made me excited for this movie!

  • Roninb

Oh god, he’s using that Christian Bale/Batman voice.

  • Anonymous

i think he was just doing the battle-cry thing…but way to ruin the thread by bringing up the Christian Bale Voice. lol
