Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa To Take On Glee And A Carrie Remake

 

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the comics writer and playwright recruited to help salvage the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, will next turn his attention to the hit television series Glee and a new adaptation of the Stephen King thriller Carrie.

Deadline reports that Aguirre-Sacasa, best known for his work on the HBO drama Big Love and comics like Marvel Knights 4 and The Sensational Spider-Man, will become a co-producer and writer of the Fox musical drama.

He’ll also write the screenplay for a new take on Carrie from MGM and Screen Gems that’s expected to remain for more to King’s 1974 novel — the author’s first — than Brian De Palma’s 1976 movie. The book centers on a shy high-school student who uses her newly emerging telekinetic powers to exact revenge on the people who teased her. Carrie was last adapted in 2002 by David Carson and Bryan Fuller as a television movie.

Carrie won’t be Aguirre-Sacasa’s first brush with King: He wrote four miniseries for Marvel based on the author’s post-apocalyptic horror novel The Stand.
