Zach Braff Lands In Oz

All of the pieces appear to be falling quickly into place for Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, with Zach Braff now in talks to join the Sam Raimi-directed 3D prequel.

According to Deadline, Braff will play Frank, the loyal but under-appreciated assistant to James Franco’s Oz, a charismatic charlatan who’s carried by hot-air balloon to a magical realm whose citizens want him to eradicate a wicked witch. The film also stars Rachel Weisz as the sinister Evanora, Mila Kunis as her younger sister Theodora, Michelle Williams as Glinda and Joey King as the porcelain China Girl.

The film, which is written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Inkheart), also stars Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams. Production begins in July in Michigan for a March 8, 2013, release.

Braff, who’s best known for Scrubs and Garden State, most recently appeared in The High Cost of Living.

This has a great cast – and with Raimi directing, it should be good. I hope its a going to be drama and not a comedy.

I know Zach is known for Comedy but Garden State proved he can be somewhat versatile, and Michelle Williams was especially dramatic in Brokeback Mountain. So hopefully! ;)
