U.S. Attorney General Orders More Episodes Of The Wire

The Wire is the greatest beginning-to-end story in the history of television. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. Anyone who’s seen the show knows it, and that includes U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who also happens to be one of the most powerful people in this country. Well, if power corrupts, then bring on the corruption, because Holder is using a gross abuse of his government power for the forces of good.

The AG met with former Wire stars Wendell Pierce, Sonja Sohn and Jim True-Frost earlier this week so they could all show their support for protecting children from drug abuse and exploitation, Reuters reports. During the sitdown, Holder issued an order that may well be overstepping the boundaries of his authority:

“I want to speak directly to [creators] Mr. [Edward] Burns and Mr. [David] Simon: Do another season of The Wire. That’s actually at a minimum. … If you don’t do a season, do a movie. We’ve done HBO movies, this is a series that deserves a movie. I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power, Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.”

You can’t really spell it out any more clearly than that. If nothing else, this kind of power play will make great fodder for a future Simon/Burns collaboration.

  • Mr. M

I have never seen The Wire, but now the hype has reached such epic proportions that I can’t watch it because my expectations would be too high.

So for now, for me, Arrested Development remains the greatest beginning-to-end story inthe history of television, even though the end was rushed.

If you bring back Firefly I will finally be proud of our government!

  • Kevin Melrose

Don’t let the hype/raised expectations discourage you. The Wire is every bit as good as everyone says it is.

  • Mel

Bring back Surface and SG Universe too

No show can be THAT great.  It’s not possible.  Especially since I had no interest a gritty street series to begin with.

  • Drhiphop85

If he brings back King of the Hill, I’ll be a happy man. I’m stuck with Bob’s Burgers and Cleveland show but no Hank Hill. That’s bull

  • Easyt63

I’m sorry but Lost is the best show from beginning to end. How can anyone deny that?

  • Nataniel Costard

It´s like Paris. Decades hearing about this friggin city bigger than life, the most beautiful thing on earth, yadda yadda, I went there expecting to hate it. It was everything they said, and more. That`s The Wire. Give it a chance. Don`t give up until the third season. There`s no gimmick, no genre, it`s not a gritty street series. It`s just amazing talented people doing their best.

  • Nataniel Costard

    Easy, you just watch it.
