Universal Options "The Wicked + The Divine" for TV Adaptation
Director Doug Liman’s long-in-development moon movie has been put on the fast-track at Paramount Pictures, with new financing from Skydance Pictures and New Regency.
Liman, who helmed Go, The Bourne Identity and Fair Game, originally set up the science-fiction project at DreamWorks in 2007 — it was called Luna at the time — before it was moved to Paramount. There it underwent several rewrites before gathering dust, that is, until it sprang to life in March.
The film centers centers on a group of ex-space employees who travel the world stealing equipment in an effort to return to the moon to find an energy source. All they need now is a former NASA employee, whom they set out to kidnap.
Variety reports that Liman will direct and produce with Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes, Jumper), who did the most recent script polish, and Allison Shearmur.
The director had previously met with several actors, including Andrew Garfield, Megan Fox, Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper Chris Pine and Emile Hirsch, with an eye toward beginning production in late summer.
