Cowboys & Aliens To Have World Premiere At Comic-Con On July 23

Perhaps taking advantage of a Comic-Con International lineup that’s light on major studios, Universal Pictures will give Cowboys & Aliens its world premiere on July 23 in San Diego, nearly a week before it opens in theaters.

The worldwide premiere of  Cowboys & Aliens will be at Comic-Con,” director Jon Favreau told Hero Complex. “And not only are we going to premiere it there, we’re going to find a way to include as many of the fans as possible. I feel like they’ve come out for me, they’ve supported me.”

The event will be held at the 2,967-seat San Diego Civic Theatre, kicking off at 7 p.m. with a red carpet. The screening will follow an hour later. Ticket information will be available on the movie’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Based on the Platinum Studios graphic novel, Cowboys & Aliens stars Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, a gunslinger with a mysterious shackle on his wrist and no memory of his past who discovers he’s the only hope for protecting a desert town from alien invaders. The movie, which opens on July 29, also stars Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown, Walter Goggins, Noah Ringer and Adam Beach.

Wow. This is both awesome and incredibly annoying. Awesome because it sounds like it’ll be an amazing experience (how many times do you get to see a movie with the actors and director in the room with you?). Annoying because didn’t SDCC tickets sell out back in January?
