A First Look At Captain America <br />In His U.S.O. Show Costume

We’ve long known that Captain America: The First Avenger would give a nod (and a wink) to the character’s traditional Marvel comics costume with the ensemble the Sentinel of Liberty dons for a U.S.O. show. And now, thanks to Comic Book Movie, we finally have our first (low-quality) glimpse of Chris Evans in the slightly embarrassing-looking outfit, backed by a line of star-spangled showgirls.

The Joe Johnston-directed film, which opens on July 22, also stars Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Richard Armitage, Natalie Dormer, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough and Samuel L. Jackson.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

    Hahahahahahahaha!!
Okay, give me a second here… hahahahahahah!!!

That looks ridiculous in the best way possible. It just proves the comics costume couldn’t really be translated on-screen without major touches.
I’m really glad they’re adding this. It’s a great nod to the comics and it seems to be a very fun scene.

Well I always enjoyed the costume they were going to use in the movie, but wondered why they couldn’t use the comic…well I now know why and happy they went the way they did.

chris facial expression says that cap is only in that cheesy out fit because its required .  though one would think marvel would have gone with a cap costume for his uso show bit that does not not make the character look like he has a little too many sweets.

…I think this just broke my funny bone.  Seriously, I think it was so funny that I am now incapable of laughter.

Well played Captain America.  Well played.

Honestly, this is hilarious.  Although I think the only thing that would have made it even funnier would have been if they had used to original costume from the Cap movie in the 80′s.  :P

I like they way they make the comic costume look as dorky as possible to justifie the  non-cannon “we hate spandex and capes” position that Hollywood has on super heroe costumes. If they wanted to, they could have made the classic comic costume look cool. It does look like a good movie, but I would have prefered they stick more to the comic in look and story, Esp the Hydra being a WW II nazi invention?
