Full-Length Muppets Trailer Debuts

Following three parody teasers, Disney has premiered the first full-length trailer for The Muppets, which sees the return of Jim Henson’s beloved felt-covered characters to the big screen for the first time since 2005.

Directed by James Bobin (Da Ali Gi Show, The Flight of the Conchords) from a script by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, The Muppets stars Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and a host of others, including Rashida Jones, Zach Galifianakis, Jack Black, Ed Helms, Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry and Donald Glover. It opens on Nov. 23.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino house band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

I can never get enough of The Muppets. This looks great and as a bonus it’s something I can see with my daughter that won’t make me want to tear my eyes out :)

I still feel like I’m missing something. I just don’t get the appeal.
